Goodbyes are never easy but, they are natural. Saying goodbye can be freeing or it can be crippling. No matter who is leaving and who is staying, saying goodbye is an essential part of the process and when it is left undone those who were left will notice.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Sometimes saying goodbye is a part of following what the Lord has for you and often it is that thing that stops a lot of people from that calling.
When it was time to say my goodbye to my loved ones, I knew it was going to be difficult. It was the part that I was not looking forward to. It was something that scared me, especially saying goodbye to my 3-year-old nephew who I knew would never fully understand. Knowing that life would go on without me made me want to leave even less but, I knew this trip was what the Lord had for me and was something I ran from for a long time. I don’t know if that was always a part of God’s plan but, he works all things for good. So, I know that I am on M Squad for a specific purpose. He knew I would be going through this season of both excitement and mourning and I honestly can’t wait to see he does with me in this season.
I know that goodbyes are a part of leaving home for 11 months but, it is also okay to mourn the people that I left behind.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven… a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” Ecclesiastes 3:1&4.
There is a season for everything, and I think that this part of the journey is a harder season. I know throughout this whole adventure there will be funny, amazing, and light season and there will be dark, hard, and exhausting seasons. I am anxious and yet also excited for these seasons. I know I will learn so much from all of them and I know that God is going to teach me and grow me so much through them. The Lord has also placed the right people around me to help me through all of these seasons including the one I am in right now. What is just as amazing is I also get the privilege to partner with God and help my teammates and squad mates through all of their seasons as well.
Focus on the One who has moved your heart to make this journey of faith and your way will remain clearly visible and your feet will not falter nor will you stray from the path He has laid out for you. ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ Joshua 1:9
I am sure the good-byes were so hard. I am equally sure that you will reap rewards you haven’t even imagined for your willingness to follow Him. Can’t wait to see what He has for you on this journey!
